Prayers Needed

We are experiencing flooding in our area and prayers are needed!
Personally, we only had puddles in our basements but many others have upwards from 1 inch to 6 feet of water.  Yes, 6 feet of water.
Both rain water and sewage water.
Many streets and roads are closed.
Here are some pictures in my neighborhood.

Lots of damage but no reports of injury or death.
Water is still cresting though.
We have another 12 hours before it should reach it's peak.

Please pray for those who are experiencing major flooding and as well as our brothers and sisters in Boston.

God bless,
Noreen

    1. Thank you Stephanie. They had to evacuate a seniors center nearby since it was almost surrounded by water.

  5. Prayers from here, Noreen. We have a creek in our background that floods and leaves us isolated so I can relate to watching tide levels and being prepared. I hope you keep safe and that your home escapes damage.
    God bless, Noreen:)

    1. Thank you Vicky! How often do you experience flooding from the creek?

    2. It depends on the season, Noreen. Until, six or seven years ago, we were in drought and the creek was very low. It even dried up at one stage. Then, the drought broke with a huge storm, lasting several days. We watched a car get swept into the current from our lounge room. A metal barrier stopped it from being carried out to sea (our creek is freshwater but, at the end of the street, it turns into the saltwater of the ocean) and the owners sat on a roof until emergency services rescued them in a boat. Since then, we've had one or two floods a year. Our house gets cut off but only the road and garden get flooded as we're a metre above the estimated 100 year flood level.

  6. Noreen,

I've never experienced a real flood. I'm sure it must be frightening watching the water keep rising. Praying everyone remains safe and the water recedes soon.

    God bless!

    1. It is frightening because you know the damage the water causes, and then you worry about safety and how to pay for the clean up!

  7. Prayers for your area! We had 2 inches in our basement Easter weekend, now with the new foot of snow, I'm afraid we'll see it again this weekend. 40's expected Sunday!

    1. Thank you Laurie. We're fortunate but many are dealing with basements just filled with water. Can't buy a sump pump around here now. There all sold out!

  9. Hi Noreen,
My family lives up right along the terribly flooded Illinois River in the towns of Ottawa, LaSalle-Peru, and Spring Valley (the Illinois Valley area). They, too, are experiencing terrible flooding. A series of barges hit the locks and damns near Marseilles, Il and the Civil Corps of Engineers had to evacuate the people who lived in the immediate area. Such devastation. This week has been a horrific week, hasn't it??!! May God watch over and protect all those who have been affected by such terrible things!
