Catholics Called to Witness

I posted a heart-felt plea over on Community of Catholic Bloggers today for this upcoming election.  I learned today that Eric Scheidler from Pro Life Action League along with others, are coordinating another Religious Freedom Rally for June 8, 2012.  This time, their goal is to have our bishops lead processions in their respective cities holding the Blessed Sacrament.  Wouldn't that be amazing?!?!

My friend sent me this Youtube video about our responsibilities as Catholics.  Check it out and then look into a Religious Freedom Rally near you.  If you can't make it there in person, keep the HHS Mandate at the top of your prayer list.

The time is now.  We must do our part and bring God into this election.

Jesus in the Public Square

During Holy Week, the Thomas More Society with some private donors, sponsored "Jesus in Daley Plaza" in downtown Chicago.  As part of the "Divine Mercy Project: Prayer in the Public Square," they erected a 14 foot cross and a very large Divine Mercy painting right in front of the Picasso structure that already resides there.  They held prayers there during the Holy Triduum and it's still there!  I'm guessing it will be up until after Divine Mercy Sunday.  Here are a couple of photos from Being Catholic Really:

What a powerful witness that must have been during Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Easter to the hundreds and hundreds of people who pass by there every day!  And it's been up all week!  My friend took pictures of it yesterday as she passed by.

Jesus in the public square being praised, adored and worshiped!
Alleluia!

Some Easter Crafting & Decorating

I've seen so many creative and fun ideas to celebrate Easter yet they lacked any mention of Jesus, His death or resurrection.  But I liked the colorfulness of them so I did what I could to bring Jesus into them (not my idea but one I had seen over at Tiffany's from Family at the Foot of the Cross.  Here are the results:

I got this free printable from Kimberly at A Night Owl.  I realize the words are not in sequence but I thought it was very pretty and it's hanging in my kitchen!  She has them on her blog in different color schemes.

Then I saw this cute craft of spray painting a mason jar and using it as a vase over at Decorchick.  I tied a rosary ring with Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal into the ribbon.  I realize this is not tied to Easter directly but I thought it was a beautiful picture of Our Lady and it looked good on the jar!

I've seen these yarn wreaths everywhere on the blog-o-sphere and I wanted to make one too.  It was time consuming yet fun at the same time.  I tied my rosary around the ribbon to connect it to the suffering of Jesus on the Cross.
I'm still working on this one.  I'm looking for a wooden word of Joy, Faith or Love that I can paint and attach it to this lilac yarn wreath.  The inspiration came from craft blog called My Blessed Life.  Loveliness everywhere you look in her craft designs!

And the idea of the Egg topiary came from Debbie Does Creations.  This was a fun craft using fabric strips and my hot glue gun.

Easter Blessings to all!
