Look What Happened While You Were Sleeping

Has anyone read this book written by a Friend of Medjugorje?  Has anyone heard of what's been happening in Medjugorje these past 30 years?

Medjugorje is in Bosnia-Herzegovina (which used to be Yugoslavia) and the Blessed Virgin Mary has been appearing to six people to give messages to the world about:

How far away we've strayed from Jesus.
How secular our world has become.
How we as a nation, as a world, are not Christ Centered.

She comes to give us hope and to ask us to pray for peace for the world.  She informs us that we are now in a time of grace.  A time to convert and turn our hearts to Jesus.  This is a time to deepen our faith and come closer to God before it's too late.  She reminds us that Jesus has given us tools/weapons to fight against the evil of this world.  They are:

  • Daily Prayer (Of the Rosary)
  • Fasting on Wednesdays and Fridays
  • Daily Reading of the Bible
  • Monthly Confession
  • Holy Communion

Throughout the course of history, Jesus has given us His Mother to show us the way back to Jesus.  Many others have found eternal life in Jesus through Mary.  What a gift Jesus has given us!

But how do we treat it?  The media stays clear of such subjects.  Do our priests talk about how we can deepen our faith during their homilies?  Do we as families, discuss it at home?  With our friends?  I think if the answer was yes to the above questions, our world wouldn't be so lost, so wounded, so fixed on itself instead of Jesus Christ.  Imagine what our world could be like if Christians imposed our morals on our government?  Made abortion ILLEGAL!  Let God back into the schools.  Let Him back into the mainstream of society

Our country was founded on Christian principals.  If the majority of Americans are Christian, that should be an easy task.

I began this post mentioning a book title - Look What Happened While You Were Sleeping by a Friend of Medjugorje.  Many of the Virgin Mary's messages are mentioned in this book.  It's a startling book that suggests our world would change drastically for the better if we followed one important commandment -
Keep Holy the Sabbath Day.

I highly recommend this book.  It'll open your eyes and you'll be grateful it did!  My firiend Holly first told me about it and I'm not sure where she first learned of it?  Relevant Radio?  EWTN?  Not sure, but I would say it's a must read for Christians.

I follow a blog called My Apologies by Patty and she wrote a recent post called "Why I Hate Being Catholic" and of course it drew my attention.  She inspired me to write this post and you should read hers because it's good, very good.  http://freakinominalblog.blogspot.com/

  1. What a wonderful post. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this book. I appreciate your honesty on your "About Me". My opinion about some religions has been tested the last year, and I am grateful for so many who are willing to share their faith.

Have a blessed day, and thank you for linking up to NOBH.

  2. Thank you for your kind words Lynda. I find I spend a great deal of my free time learning more about my faith. I very much want to hear when I meet God "Well done, my good and faithful servant." Not that I blew it, I have a worldly view not a Christian view, that I ignored Him when He called me. It is hard in this very secular world...we slip so slightly if we're the least bit vigilant.

I look forward to following yours too!

  3. Nice to "meet" you Noreen! You have a beautiful blog here. It's a reflection of you.

I went to Medjegorje about 16years ago and read all about it way back then, but haven't read anything new in such a long time, the book sounds very interesting....might have to get it...I put it on my list!

  4. Jamie Jo - I was there as well back in 1998 and it was an amazing place with people from all around the world, speaking different languages, all there to pray and deepen their faith.

It was shocking to drive through the war torn county into the village where it felt sacred, peaceful and holy. Did you stay in one of the local resident's homes? I did and they were so hospitable and welcoming.

Have you read the book by Janice T. Connell called The Visions of the Children from Medjugorje? I purchased that one but lent it out right away. My friend is reading it now.

Even though I was there, as the years passed it fell of my radar. I didn't realize she was still appearing.

I'd love to hear what you thought of it!

  5. where did you get your book? I don't have it at my library. I'd like to read it. I read that other person's "Why I hate being Catholic" and I found her comment about us living in a society of comfort and how much time and energy we put into that comfort thought provoking. sometimes comments like that make you realize where your priorities have been.
