Caught in the Act, A Blasphemous Outrage

Two unrelated topics today:

First, I returned to my son's doctor office with son in tow this morning and we went down the hallway to the abortion clinic and prayed.  This time, we didn't go unnoticed.  The doctor, himself, came out of the locked gate, looked at us praying, said nothing and continued on his way.  I must say, we were relieved that he didn't confront us.  I knew we were doing a good and holy act, however, I didn't want my son in a front row seat of a pro-choice/pro-life debate.  I noticed my son said a quick thankful prayer to God for protecting us in that moment!

Secondly, I came across a blog last night that talked about Our Lady of Guadalupe being blasphemed at the Oakland Museum of California.  Here is how Our Lady of Guadalupe is portrayed.... in a flower bikini with boxing gloves on.  She is called Our Lady of Controversy in this so-called work of art.  I didn't want to put the actual picture on my blog since it's so offensive.  There's nothing beautiful, gracious or endearing about it and that's how I view Our Lady.  Mocking Our Lord's Mother is a travesty and the artist, Alma Lopez is making money off of this front cover picture of her book and DVD.

If you feel so inclined (which I did), you can send an e-protest Here to the Oakland Museum of California.

  1. Noreen,
I hate when museums display blasphemous or inappropriate images of Our Lord or Mother Mary. I sent in an e-protest too!

  2. Mary, this is the first I've heard of it done and it's shocking... I didn't realize that it may not be the first time :(

  3. How amazing Noreen! No, not the artwork, but think about what kind of a day you had...You were Our Lady's biggest defense today!!!

First you prayed for her unborn loved souls, and then you went out on the line to protect Our Lady of Guadalupe (Patroness of the Unborn, no less:) and her sacred image.

Many blessings today Noreen! Keep up the good work!

  4. I admire your devotion. One thing I can't stand for is when people use God's name in vain and when they deface or display blasphemous images of anything related to God.

  5. Oh Patty, I never made that connection. Thanks for pointing that out to me!

Terra - I so agree about using God's name in vain. It's used on tv so frequently and it makes me cringe each time I hear it. Christians need to stand up for what's right.

  6. Hi Noreen,
You never know what seeds you and your son are planting as you pray outside the clinic and maybe the doctor that stopped by you is wrestling with some issues himself and your presence is making him think twice as hard about his actions! Keep on keeping on! You are an inspiration!
Thank you for making me aware of that disgusting and crude image of our Lady! How sad! I sent my petition and asked if they really knew who they are making fun of... The mother of GOD! Thank you for the link! Dear Lord, have mercy on us!

  7. God bless you and your son for your prayers at the abortion clinic.

I feel personally hurt every time Our Lady is blasphemed. Our Lady of Fatima asked for the five first Saturday devotions to compensate for the blasphemy against her. We need to encourage people to do these devotions. I'm sure Jesus gives us extra love and graces when we console His Mother.
