Winter Blizzard of 2011

The weather forecasters got it right this time.  We were hit with a massive snow storm yesterday afternoon that snowed well into today.  My poor Toby had to go outside this morning to take care of business and we could only open one door.  We have three doors that lead to the outside and two of them were snowed in.  Fortunately for him, he is a very tall dog and was able to go out into the 18+ inches of snow.  He came back pretty fast though.  Here are some fun pictures of our morning shoveling our way out of the house.

As of now, the main street is plowed but our side street and alley are not.  I have complete faith in our city's ability to get the streets and alleys plowed!

  1. Cute pictures! I live in Florida now but I grew up in Pennsylvania and I remember snows like that. Looks like you had lots of fun!

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog and following. I am returning the favor.

  2. Wow, look at all that snow! We had temperatures in the 60's today in Virginia! I'm loving it- even if it is only for today. We're supposed to get snow later on in the week, but no that much! Looks like fun :)

  5. Great photos! We are previously from Missouri, who also got hit heavy. Now in Florida, we don’t miss it a bit.

  7. Hi Noreen!
These snow pictures are wild! I can't imagine being snowed in and only having one door functional! I was snowed in one time at age 14 when snow hit the south hard (and we don't have the snow equipment to handle lots of snow). It's great to "meet" you and we're glad you have joined up to NOBH. I always enjoy meeting other Catholic mom bloggers! I love your blogs template and I look forward to reading more of your blog posts. I'm your newest follower too! :) I would love for you to stop by and say "Hi" at my blog, A Slice of Smith Life" if you get a chance! God bless!

  8. Hi Ladies,
Thank you for your kind words. I'm one month into blogging and I feel it shows, but I'm working on it. I'm thrilled to have met new blooging moms too!

Today was return to school day and we decided to brave it and walk with the Tobster. It was an adventure! My long legged doggie even got stuck in a snow drift and need help being lifted out. That scared me when I saw him sink and not move... I thought he had injured his leg but he was ok. We made it.

  10. Wow, that is a lot of snow! But it looks like you had some fun in it as well. :-) After almost three months of having snow outside here in Karlskrona Sweden, it is finally starting to melt away. And I can't say I'm sad about that, hehe.

I also want to thank you for stopping by my blog ropcorn.com, and for your lovely comment! :-)

  11. I did not walk to pick up my son from school yesterday after the challenges of the morning walk but I did bring him and a friend to a church parking lot which had massive snow banks. They jumped around and rolled down them for an hour... while I sat in my car reading a book!

I haven't confirmed it yet but my husband just told me that our area is to get another 4 inches of snow in a day or two. It is beautiful but a bit dangerous for driving because of the snowbanks that block your vision. Our Public Works Dept is out today scooping up the snowbanks and putting them in dump trucks to move to another location. Thank God for the city workers!
