Public Square Rosary Rally 2011

We had a great turnout for our first rosary rally!  We had almost 60 adults and children praying the rosary in union with the rest of the rallies around the country.  What a powerful witness of faith and hope it must have been to the onlookers.

Ours was mostly peaceful in a pretty setting ~ the public sidewalk of our park district site.  Our location was not too far from a railroad crossing and during our one hour of prayer, there were many trains that went by.  This forced the people in the cars to wait on the street and we were the main attraction!!  I pray that many hearts were touched and seeds were planted and that our rally was an instrument of God's loving grace to others.  I hope people were inspired to return to church and deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ and Our Blessed Virgin Mary!!

Here are a few pictures of our rally in progress:

I am linking up with Heidi's Pondering in my Heart Mondays from Sacramental Moments.  I am pondering on the graces and blessings that poured out on those who drove or walked by our rally.  Communal prayer is a powerful witness that can lead people to Christ.

Blessings,
Noreen

  1. You had more people, Noreen, at yours. We also had the same sign, and there was at least one gentleman who saw it and joined in at about the third mystery. I agree, it is a powerful witness. I will take part again next year.

  3. Colleen ~ a group of ladies approached me and asked several questions about the rally. Like how many times had I done it before? how did I contact people?...etc. I explained it was my first time and I was thrilled at the turnout with 5 or 6 churches represented. She thought with so many churches represented, we should have had many more people. I agree but when people are not used to going out and praying in public, it takes time to get them comfortable with it.

Personally, I was thrilled because I was thinking we may have had only 10-12 people so to have almost 60... that was a pleasant surprise!!

Wouldn't it be wonderful if they went back to their own churches and tried to organize one for next year? Or tried to rally people up from their church to join us?

  6. Noreen,
I'm glad to hear it went so well! I couldn't get out of work to make it to the rally here but my mom and I both prayed our Rosaries for this intention. The pictures were great! 60 is a great turnout. I was disappointed that I couldn't participate as planned but I hope next year will work out.

  7. Gardenia ~ it was a beautiful time in community prayer. Weather was windy but really very nice.

Mary ~ I've no doubt your prayers were heard! I think it's amazing that there were literally thousands of people praying the rosary at noon last Saturday. I pray that our nation is blessed by our prayers!

  8. We didn't have that many people, but this was my first time at a Rosary Rally and I'm told the number of participants was greater than it was last year. I look forward to doing it again and now that I know about it, I'll be sure to promote it on my blog.

  10. What a wonderful witness that you provided to all of those who saw the rally, even in passing. Who knows what graces are at work in people's lives because of those prayers and the public witness that you gave to the faith!

  11. I'm sure it gathered a lot of attention with all those people holding the beads! I pray that it touched the hearts of fallen away Catholics and helps lead them back to the church!

  13. Wow, Noreen! How wonderful that the train stopped and allowed people to witness what you all were doing! I don't think there is a better weapon than the Rosary!
