The End of an Era

These last few weeks have been busy with my son's end of the year school activities.  This, unlike previous years, has been an emotional roller coaster.  The reason being is that this is his last year at his elementary school and he will be moving on to middle school this Fall.  He has loved his school and doesn't want to leave it.  Frankly, I wish he could spend one more year there too.  I'm not thrilled with the idea of 6th, 7th and 8th graders being together on a bus or at school.  That's another story though.

He has grown up a lot this past year and I wish it didn't feel like it was going so fast.  Here are some pictures of his last year being a 5th grader.

A Day Trip to Starved Rock

He is officially done on Monday, June 6th and we will both walk away from a school that we've loved.  I've been a very involved mom in the classroom and PTO and have enjoyed every minute of it.   We've met wonderful teachers and prinicpals, fabulous friends and families and feel our experience their has been a blessing.  And now it is time to go.

We'll be moving on to a new era of life with a middle schooler.  The question for me is, who will I be during this time?

I'm linking up today at:  http://www.angelwingsandapronstrings.blogspot.com/ with my friend Trish at L.A.C.E.
Please come and join us for Whatever is Lovely, Admirable, Cheerful and Encouraging!

God Bless,

  1. Noreen,

You have one handsome little fellow there. :) Thank you for sharing these photos, for I am sure each one is quite precious to you.

Ah yes, Middle School. Those are some difficult years . . . just be as involved with your son as you have been in elementary school. He'll need you more now since the temptations will be greater. Hang in there Mom! Will be sending some prayers your way. :)

    Blessings,

    -L. Rose

  2. Hello Noreen,
I believe you will continue to be who you are - a loving mother of a growing boy and a wife who serves the lord and her family with devotion.
Your role will be different in some ways to what you've been used to..but your relationship with your son will deepen as you both go through the changes.
When my youngest son finished homeschooling I felt lost!
I didn't know who I was for a while either.
I worried about the type of people he was mixing with while away from home.
It took me quite a while to adjust to how life had changed for us.
There were some occasions for concern but through it all, God was with us!!
'Jesus I trust in You' became my constant heart-cry and He proved Himself to be at my side always.
He will be with you too, my friend :-)
And you can become the greatest intercessor for your son who needs your prayers and motherly companionship to help him now discover who he is too!
I know it's not easy and you are a bit anxious right now. That's normal!
But try to hold on to the positives and be open to whatever new way that the Lord may lead you.
There may be something for you to do at his new school.
I'm praying for you dear lady.
    love and hugs..Trish
ps. Thank you for linking up to LACE again :-)

  3. Your son met Rick Riordan!!!! Oh my daughter would be so jealous:) she has read every single book he has done so far (so have I). You son has reach another milestone-- Middle schooler!!! I am sure you will get as involved in his next school, most parents drop out of getting involved once their kids leave elementary school , but this is when kids need us even more as the temptations are still with them. Praying for both of you Thanks for linking up to the NOBH

  6. Love that smile and those curls! I have a daughter who will be advancing to the 6th grade in our homeschool. It's a wonderful time of life for them but definitely challenging. My oldest son is 13 and all I have to say is... this is not the time to step aside, mama! Those guys need us more than ever even though the world says differently. I love having sons and yours looks like a real treasure. :) God bless you all!
