4th of July Celebration

May God Richly Bless America, rain down his graces upon her and keep His protective hand upon her!!

We celebrated with our family by watching our city parade go down our street.  Our siblings bring their families over early to participate in the parade by waving, cheering and receiving candy from the floats.
It's fun for all!

The kids being "forced" to take a picture :)

It ought to be commemorated, as the Day of Deliverance by solemn Acts of Devotion to God Almighty. ... I am well aware of the Toil and Blood and Treasure, that it will cost Us to maintain this Declaration, and support and defend these States. Yet through all the Gloom I can see the Rays of ravishing Light and Glory. I can see that the End is more than worth all the Means. And that Posterity will tryumph in that Days Transaction, even altho We should rue it, which I trust in God We shall not. -   John Adams

God Bless,
noreen

  4. Noreen, looks like you had a wonderful parade. I bet the kids had a lot of fun.

You have been in my thoughts, Noreen. I remember your post about the storm and lack of power. It's been our turn for some wild weather. Very strong winds have disrupted our electricity supplies. Sitting huddled in a blanket the other evening, dreaming of a hot cup of coffee, I thought of you and how adventurous you were, finding the blessings despite all the inconvenience. A good lesson for me. The winds have died down now and hopefully things are back to normal. You don't appreciate something until it is gone. God bless!

  5. It was a fun day for all the kids and grown ups alike!

Sue - how long were you without power? Was it a bad storm? I have no doubt that you handled it very well! Made it an adventure for your children... like being a pioneer family. It is an eye opening experience to realize how dependent we are on electricity. I'm glad you were all ok! God Bless!

  6. We were only without electricity for 24 hours, Noreen. Nothing compared with you. But how I missed starting my day with a hot shower! We were expecting the power to be off for much longer and Andy went to town to stock up on torch batteries (I'm sure you have different words - flashlight?!!)and other supplies, and then the electricity was restored unexpectedly.

A new warning system was used for the first time. We got emergency messages on our mobile phones and a call on our home line to warn of possible further disruptions, but so far, so good. The wind has died down. God bless!
