Jesus in the Public Square

During Holy Week, the Thomas More Society with some private donors, sponsored "Jesus in Daley Plaza" in downtown Chicago.  As part of the "Divine Mercy Project: Prayer in the Public Square," they erected a 14 foot cross and a very large Divine Mercy painting right in front of the Picasso structure that already resides there.  They held prayers there during the Holy Triduum and it's still there!  I'm guessing it will be up until after Divine Mercy Sunday.  Here are a couple of photos from Being Catholic Really:

What a powerful witness that must have been during Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Easter to the hundreds and hundreds of people who pass by there every day!  And it's been up all week!  My friend took pictures of it yesterday as she passed by.

Jesus in the public square being praised, adored and worshiped!
Alleluia!
Easter Blessings,
Noreen

  2. Apparently it happens every year and I had no idea! I'm so rarely ever down there anyways, that to walk by it by chance would be impossible. Now, I want to go down and see it!

  3. that's a beautiful testament to Christ! and Easter! I'm a little surprised to see it there in the governmental square of Daley Plaza. Great job to the Thomas more Society ! (and thanks for sharing this). This is something we'd love to go see.

  4. I wonder if it is still there on Divine Mercy Sunday. I wish the whole world would know the amazing Graces available on that day. "the Soul that goes to Confession and recieves Holy Communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment." Read the Vatican Decree on "Indulgences attached to devotions in honor of Divine Mercy".
